Twenty competitors advanced to the latest round of American idol. The votes have now been cast and the Thursday night show will shatter four more dreams. According to reports over 32 million votes were cast for this week's competition. Tonight two guys and two gals will go home. The pool of finalists will be narrowed to the sweet sixteen tonight. While the girls have dominated the competition, the guys made a bit of a comeback this week.

American Idol: Thursday Show Sends Four More Home

I have yet to see any of the guys set themselves apart from the pack. Sundance Head finally made a return to respectability this week, but I was not a fan of the 'sappy' dedication format, so this week left me a bit off as I tried to decide which contestant is my favorite among the guys.

The amazing thing is the talent of the women. Lakisha Jones' "Midnight Train to Georgia" and Melinda Doolittle's "My Funny Valentine" are so far above any song any of the guys have done it s not even funny. Jordin Sparks and Stephanie Edwards are both money. The talk of the week is of course the sexy Antonella Barba. She was all over the World Wide Web and not for her singing ability.

She's sexy and made a smart move by finally wearing a clingy miniskirt for her teen-boy fan base that has given her the number one search term status on various days even beating out troubled pop princess Britney Spears. But someone has to go home, and tonight, a foursome will be voted off.

Reportedly Nick Pedro is the first to go. Following him is Alaina Alexander. I liked this guy a bit, but AJ Tabaldo is gone. And the final elimination is no stunner, Leslie Hunt is done. That means another week of Antonella Barba dominating the idol buzz and you know what - that's okay. It certainly takes the pressure off the other women. But the guys still have a long way to go - can someone anyone step it up enough to challenge Lakisha and Melinda?
