Many hoped that when Jon Voight was spotted leaving the same hotel where his estranged daughter Angelina Jolie is staying that there may have been a crack in the Jolie wall she had placed around her and her kids. She has not allowed Voight to see the kids - his grandkids - since 2002, when he made a comment that she needed to get help for something he called "serious mental issues".

So when the actor was spotted coming out of New York’s swanky Waldorf Astoria hotel with a huge smile on his face – and tat's the same hotel where Angelina is staying with her family, naturally many believed that Jolie had a change of heart and would allow her father access to the kids.


It appears those are false hopes. Nightly syndicated entertainment news show "Extra" is reporting that they have learned that Jon was not there to see Angie -- he was at the hotel to see his goddaughter. Despite the close proximity, there was no meeting according to the report. Jolie's partner Brad Pitt has reportedly pushed for a meeting.

Earlier tabloid reports cited insiders that claimed that Pitt really believed that the four kids would be better off if they could not only meet their grandfather, but get to know him. But those same reports said Angelina shut Brad down and in no uncertain terms told Brad to mind his own business. Or just sit there and look pretty.
