Angelina Jolie Under Fire: 'Twisted Double Life'

Mar 28, 2007

The reports surrounding the Angelina Jolie adoption of a little boy from Vietnam always were a bit mixed with the rabid 'team Jolie' fans dubbing her a saint while others asked some very serious questions of exactly why she felt the need to again adopt so quickly. Angelina is a workaholic, and travels extensively to third world countries for photo ops to try and use her beauty and fame to promote her pet causes. While nearly everyone admires her tenacity on that issue is admirable, the adoption raised questions.

Jolie was accused of using her fame to bend the rules to get the child. And experts wondered why on earth she would change a three year old boy's name. They noted that the child would need time to bond after being yanked out of the only place he had called home. She answered by telling the Vietnamese press: "I will stay at home to help Pax adjust to his new life," Jolie told the Ho Chi Minh City Law newspaper on March 16. "I have four children and caring for them is the most important thing for the moment." Or not.

Us Weekly magazine uses the cover this week to allege that Jolie is leading a 'twisted double life.' The sub heads are stunning. 'Her broken promise to be a stay-at home mom.' 'Secret fights with Brad over Pax's adoption.' 'How she uses her kids to manipulate the media.' Even CNN has questioned why Jolie was changing the child's name, and why she wasn't remaining at home instead of bonding with her new child and helping him to adjust to his new brother and sisters.

UsMagazine.Com reports on her broken promises and her early travels now that she is back in the USA. They notes that just four days after her 'stay at home quote' Variety reported that the Oscar winner had signed up to play an assassin in Wanted, which is set to begin shooting in April in Prague. Even more bewildering was Jolie, 31, showing up in Chicago on March 23 for screen tests on 'Wanted'.

The mag continues: The fact that Jolie was anywhere but at home with her family was odd. Just eight days earlier, the actress had picked up her newly adopted son, Pax, from a Vietnam orphanage. But, despite what she told the Vietnamese newspaper, the mother-of-four does not appear to be slowing down any time soon. She's also slated to star in 'Atlas Shrugged' and 'The Changeling', which is preparing a fall start.
