Ann Curry Isn't Fired Yet - But Her Live Shots are Banned, and CNN Doesn't Want Her
Ann Curry hasn't been completely fired yet by NBC, but the news reader is not allowed to do live TV or interviews for the network, reports have claimed.
Curry was once a staple at the NBC morning show "Today," but fell out of favor with anchor Matt Lauer and was re-assigned to NBC News.
Ever since the split, gossip items in the NY media have claimed that Ann wants completely out of her contract to search for a new job with another show on another network.
Instead, Ann has been taping interviews for various NBC news programs, and this new report from the NY Post claims they won't even allow her to do live interviews now.
All of her work is on tape.
Is NBC talking at all?
Cue the rep: A representative for NBC told the Post: 'Ann Curry has a multi-year contract with NBC News. The rest of this gossip is nonsense.'
Meanwhile - she's not going to CNN.
An earlier item had speculated Curry could step right in at CNN and help right their sinking ratings, but they don't seem to want the veteran news reader either.
TMZ cites sources who explain that CNN head Jeff Zucker IS NOT interested in Ann.
A report notes:
Well-connected network sources tell us ... reports that Zucker is courting Curry to be the next CNN star couldn't be further from the truth. Fact is, Zucker doesn't believe Curry is the answer to CNN's problems and is continuing the search elsewhere.
As one source tells TMZ, "Ann has been sainted because of what happened to her [on "Today"]. The fact is ... she definitely can't carry a prime time show."
Ann makes a whopping $10 million per year at NBC and TMZ says "no way no how will Zucker pay anywhere near that."
What would be a good fit for Ann Curry?
