Bob Costas Uses Jason Whitlock Column on NFL-Murder Suicide for Gun Control Speech

Does Bob Costas want your gun?

The NBC sports anchor cited a column written by sports reporter Jason Whitlock in a half-time lecture on NBC's Sunday Night football last night and claimed that gun control could have stopped a murder that happened this weekend.

The opinion piece is nothing new for Whitlock, he constantly mixes in his left-wing rants when he writes a column, but Costas took many by surprise when he praised gun control.

On Saturday, Whitlock wrote on the NFL murder-suicide that happened this weekend involving Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend.

Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins on Saturday morning, she was the mother of his 3-month-old daughter.

The 230 lb. linebacker then drove to Arrowhead Stadium and committed suicide in the parking lot of the team's practice facility right in front of his coach.

The answer from Jason Whitlock to the tragedy was simple and predictable, he wants you give up your guns.

Whitlock writes:

"Our current gun culture simply ensures that more and more domestic disputes will end in the ultimate tragedy, and that more convenience-store confrontations over loud music coming from a car will leave more teenage boys bloodied and dead."

Costas used his piece during the halftime of the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles for his own speech on gun control, touting Jason's column.

It appears Bob wants your guns, too.

"In the coming days, Jovan Belcher's actions and their possible connection to football will be analyzed. Who knows? But here, wrote Jason Whitlock, is what I believe. If Jovan Belcher didn't possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today."

Lou Dobbs was amused as he watched and tweeted:

"The Media Left at Halftime: Bob Costas pushing gun control, quoting...who else?..a sports writer on ridding the country of the 2nd Amendment."
