Bobby Brown Defends Performing after Whitney Houston's Death
Bobby Brown performed on the night of Whitney Houston's death because he thinks it's what she would've wanted.
The 'My Prerogative' to the stage with New Edition in Mississippi on February 11, shortly after hearing his ex-wife had been found dead in the bathtub in her Beverly Hills hotel room, but insists he had done everything he could to return to California, and only decided to go through with the concert because he felt the singer would have urged him to perform.
He said: ''I was in Mississippi performing and I got the call. Of course, I tried to get a flight. Tried to rent a jet. Whatever I had to do but it was impossible.
''So I knew the best thing that she would want me to do was perform. You know, we are performers. That's what we did. That's what we do and she would want the best for me.''
Bobby - who has 19-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina with his late ex-wife - will most miss Whitney's voice and the chance to see her on stage.
He added to TV talk shot host Ellen DeGeneres: ''[I'll miss] her voice.
''I mean we get to hear it everyday but just to see her sing was amazing. Where she came from with it, was amazing. That's what I'm going to miss...''
Whitney, 48, died as a result of accidental drowning and effects of heart disease and cocaine use.
