On American idol, gender can sometimes get you a lot of votes in a close competition and this season the main talent lies with the guys. That should help one girl make it to the top three. Once it was thought that Carly Smithson was top three material, but she has struggled of late. Others believe that Brooke White might be the last woman standing, but for two straight weeks she has not been at her best.

Few mention Syesha Mercado as making it to face off against David Cook and David Archuleta, (yes they will be the top two) which might mean she has a pretty good shot at delivering just enough to get her moving towards the final three showdown with the David and David favorites.


For now it appears that Brooke White just might be in trouble. She has gone from a funky and fun folk singer that was rolling early on to a performer that is struggling each week as Idol moves forward. In her defense, Mariah Carey week was an unmitigated disaster or the show, the last count I saw was that the show only averaged 22.7 million viewers and during Tuesday night's singing competition, many may have flipped the channel.

Brooke White has top three talent, but she must get back to her roots as a singer that engulfs herself in the music and delivers the "feeling" of the song she chooses on that stage quickly or she might face an early exit next week.
