Ashlee Simpson has apologized after a boozy confrontation with her husband's ex at a party, it has been claimed. The singer was at the DJ Hero bash at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles with hubby, Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz. The couple was sitting close to Gossip Girl actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who dated Wentz before he wed Simpson.

A source said: "The evening started off very civilly. Pete and Ashlee had a pleasant conversation with Michelle and her boyfriend for close to 20 minutes, and even showed [Trachtenberg] some baby pictures of [Ashlee's] little boy, Bronx." But then Simpson, 24, began to drink, according to US reports. "Things got out of control," an insider said.


She is said to have given Wentz, 29, a lap dance while staring at his ex. "She was grinding up on Pete like a stripper. It was actually pretty disgusting," an onlooker said. Then Simpson is said to have told her: "I hope you know, the whole time you were dating Pete, I was f***ing him!" A bystander dragged Simpson away from Trachtenberg, while Wentz looked mortified, a US newspaper reports.

A representative for Simpson said: "It was just a misunderstanding. Ashlee has since apologized to Michelle and they remain on good terms." Simpson and Wentz wed in May 2008. Their son Bronx was born in November 2008.
