Celine Dion Emotional Concert Footage on Oprah

Nov 14, 2007

Celine Dion certainly believes that the show must go on. In a riveting and emotional appearance on the daytime TV talks show "The Oprah Winfrey Show" she opened up about her toughest concert ever. The singer chose to perform in Las Vegas the night after hearing her father had died in November, 2003, insisting he would have wanted her to go on with the show.

Dion's manager/husband Rene Angelil filmed the emotional concert, which began with the then white-haired singer telling fans the sad news and explaining, "I will tonight perform the very best I can." Celine also dedicated the show to her late dad.

According to a report from the Associated Press Dion added that she and her husband and manager, Rene Angelil, face some unique challenges raising a child in the glare of the celebrity spotlight. Her son has started to realize not everyone's parents appear on television or get recognized by the public, she said.

"He's got to share his mom and dad most of the time when we go out," Dion said. "So right away, it is different. And that's why he doesn't want to go out a lot. I notice that he always wants to stay home." Dion's new album, "Taking Chances," is due in stores Tuesday.
