The bizarre scene unfolded On February 16 of this year when the 56-year old Nash went to assist with the pet chimp, Travis, and try and corral him back inside after he had escaped. However, when she found the 200-pound chimpanzee he went crazy and savagely attacked Nash leaving her in critical condition.
Travis was eventually shot by police following the attack. Now Charla is speaking out and showing her face. In the Nov. 11, 2009 episode of the show, Winfrey asks Nash to remove her veil.
See photos and video both here at ABC News and some of the shots are graphic. On the show she notes that before the attack, she told the owner to get rid of the wild animal saying, "You can't control him, and he's going to hurt somebody."
