China Avatar Restrictions - Fountain of Youth From James Cameron?

Jan 20, 2010

Restrictions by China on the blockbuster film Avatar has caused a stir, reports the Wall Street Journal. According to the paper, since the movie was first shown in China, some Internet users have made a connection to a struggle they can relate to and are "associating its story with the struggles of China's "nail house" dwellers against big property developers."

But now screenings have been curtailed. The report notes a underlying stir has risen with the slowing of showing of the movie in China.

Also - claims that "news portals and major publications" were told to keep it quiet and were "said to have received orders from government authorities to downplay discussion about nail houses related to the movie" has some concerned.

The Journal has more here. The film is a blockbuster hit in China.

More Avatar...The fountain of youth? Forget plastic surgery, James Cameron (pictured) says the technology he used for Avatar could be used to keep Clint Eastwood and Sean Connery forever young.

The director says the photorealistic CGI technology that created the alien Na’vi race in Avatar could be used to bring Humphrey Bogart back to life – or make new James Bond films with Sean Connery as 007.

Cameron said: “How about another Dirty Harry movie where Clint looks the way he looked in 1975? Or a James Bond movie where Sean Connery looks the way he did in Doctor No? How cool would that be?”
