Tennis legend Chris Evert has admitted she "misses" estranged husband Greg Norman, just weeks after laughing off concerns over her wellbeing following the split. The former champ, who announced her separation with the golf great last month, was hosting her annual charity tennis tournament when she made the surprising admission.

As she arrived on the red carpet at the event's gala night in Boca Raton, Florida, she was asked if she was a "happy woman". "I'm happy with this event," she first said. But then, after a brief silence, she added: "Greg is missed. I miss him. He was always a big part of this." She would not discuss what the future holds for her and Norman. Norman had been a regular participant at the event, but was missing from the line-up this year.


The pair married in the Bahamas in June 2008, following the conclusion of the Great White Shark's bitter divorce with Laura Andrassy. However, in early October, they announced their surprise separation. The following day when asked how she was feeling, Evert smiled, laughed and said "I'm fine".

A dozen celebrities graced Evert's annual tournament and gala, including Leaving Las Vegas actress Elisabeth Shue and tennis legend Martina Navratilova.
