Christopher Nolan believes Anne Hathaway should get a Catwoman spin-off movie.

The 41-year-old director insists the 29-year-old star portrayed the villain so well in his latest movie 'The Dark Knight Rises' - the third film in his Batman franchise following on from 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight' - that she should be given the chance to take on the same role again.

He said: ''I certainly think she deserves it, she's incredible.

''She's an incredible character and we're very excited to see her and hopefully we'll leave people wanting more.

''Anne is incredibly precise and articulate about the psychology of the character. She's really built it from the ground up, it's just a delight to watch her perform. The things she does in those heels is not to be taken lightly.''

While Christopher would be keen to see Anne portray Catwoman again, he admits he won't be at the helm of another Batman film, despite having ''really enjoyed'' his time working on the franchise.

He added to Access Hollywood: ''For me, Gotham and these characters, I'm done. I've told our story and I'm moving on. We've been working on this for about nine years.

''I've really, really enjoyed it. It's really exciting to get to the end and I've got to move on and figure out something else to do.''
