David Archuleta 'Not Sore' About Second Place on American Idol
By Gene Byrd
May 31, 2008
Despite all of the scandals surrounding his mom and dad and song choices and back stage behavior David Archuleta has emerged on top, even with a second place finish on American idol. Even though David Archuleta didn't win, he isn't complaining about coming in second. "It's a relief," says the 17 year old, and that is the absolute right attitude.

"Now I can focus on my music and writing songs." The Utah native says he hopes to record a pop album. "On the show, I was getting a little mature with my songs," admits David. "But I'm a teenager. I want to relate to kids my age." He has hit on one of the big problems with idol that needs to be fixed soon.

Many fans and pundits complained that David A. was boring with his song choices but now that he is able to speak out is seems obvious he wasn't thrilled with them either. And who can blame him? The stretch of Dolly Parton songs, Andrew Lloyd Weber show tunes and Mariah Carey tunes were a brutal stretch on American idol and for some fans that was it, the show lost them until the last ten minutes of the finals.
It's good to see David taking this tone as runner up and for him to really have success he will need to attract a young crowd of fans and relate to kids his own age and younger.
