Did the Michelle Obama $50,000 Lingerie Shopping Spree Hoax Boost Sales at Agent Provocateur?

Did lingerie store Agent Provocateur see a sales jump by more than 12 percent when it was reported that US First Lady Michelle Obama spent $50,000 in one shopping spree there?

Reports and rumors flooded the internet online this week claiming Michelle was dropping some serious cash on some frilly and pricey lingerie at US store Agent Provocateur.

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, Agent Provocateur's boutique on Madison Avenue in New York, "was partially closed off for the U.S. First Lady," so she could shop privately, reports the UK Daily Mail.

But were any of the reports true?

It is still unclear if the lingerie store saw a boost in sales because of the story that Michelle was wearing their high end lingerie to bed with the president, but the White House was quick to deny any $50K shopping spree of any kind.

Kristina Schake, director of communications for First Lady Michelle Obama said earlier this week:

"This story is 100 percent false."

The store was quick to claim they were not the source of the story.

A spokesman for the label told the UK MailOnline:

"Recent claims regarding Michelle Obama and purchases made at an Agent Provocateur boutique are incorrect.

"Agent Provocateur never discusses any of its clientele or their purchases."
