Donny Osmond vs. Lady Gaga - Telephone Video Too Much for Parent
Mar 26, 2010
Donny Osmond ripped Lady Gaga (pictured) and Beyonce for including "profanity, sexual exploitation, nudity, and graphic violence" in their Telephone video. The brother of Marie Osmond says as a parent he is upset about the clip and believes something needs to be done.
"I wouldn't want my child to watch this video. Would you? What do you think? Should these two extremely gifted female role models for millions of young girls, maybe, have given a little more thought to the effect it might have on their core audience?"
The intention was to shock. Gaga says her spectacular video with Beyoncé for their single Telephone is meant to make viewers "vomit".
The pop sensation has also defended the 10-minute clip against accusations of product placement, saying she “chose” most of the items to be in it for a reason.
Gaga was on tour in Australia when she denied Telephone is a better video than Michael Jackson’s Thriller, insisting, “No it’s not!” She also said no-one will understand the clip, which features semi nudity and a lesbian kiss inside a women’s prison, until “six months after its release”.
She called BeyoncĂ© “courageous” for agreeing to appear in the video.
Lady Gaga, real name Stefanie Germanotta told an Aussie radio show: “The video is designed to be like the cell phone, like the internet and communication and how we’re inundated with information."
“It was designed to make you feel like you wanted to vomit by the end of it." Talking about appearing to collapse on stage in New Zealand recently, the controversial singer insisted she had been suffering from jetlag, not exhaustion
She said: "I got in the night before and the jetlag just really caught up with me. It’s never happened to me before, I was just really tired."
