The man that performed surgery on Kanye West's mother just one day before she died is getting quite the examination now himself. Dr. Jan Adams has had a DUI and also has had has had judgments against him in at least two malpractice cases, according to legal documents filed in California, reports CNN. Another report from TMZ.Com details with court documents that he has also been accused of physically assaulted his ex-wife.

Dr. Jan Adams Ex Wife Claims Brutality, Gets Restraining Order

The newsroom reports that they have obtained a restraining order filed by Susie Field, former wife of music mogul turned movie producer Ted Field. According to the document, Field claims on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2006, Dr. Adams became upset with Susie for taking a phone call during dinner. Susie claims, "He wanted to speak to whomever was calling me."


The judge granted the restraining order on November 28, 2006. Two days later, Susie filed for divorce. They were married in early 2006 and the divorce was final in February, 2007. In what could be more trouble for the doctor Adams has settled at least two malpractice suits, one for $250,000 and another for $217,000, according to a CNN report.

The cable news network is also reporting that he has "multiple convictions for alcohol-related offenses," medical board executive director David Thornton said in his complaint charging Adams with violating the Medical Practice Act. Adams has at least two convictions since 2003, when the doctor was put on probation and ordered to complete an alcohol counseling program, according to the complaint. More on that here.
