Ellen Degeneres New JC Penney Gig Ruffles Feathers - Fox News' Bill O'Reilly Defends Her

Bill O'Reilly has come to the defense of Ellen Degeneres after a conservative group One Million Moms protested her hiring by US retail chain JC Penney.

Degeneres is gay and married to wife Portia de Rossi.

Ellen has defended herself quite nicely (watch the video here) and also got a nice backing from Fox News host Bill O'Reilly

"I don't think that's the spirit of America," he said.

He added:

"What is the difference between the McCarthy-era communist blacklist of the '50s and the Million Moms saying, 'Hey, JCPenney and all you other stores, don't you hire any gay people. Don't you dare.' What's the difference?... A conservative group in the country is asking a private company to fire an American citizen based on her lifestyle. I don't think that's correct."

According to an earlier Pop Journal report, the group released a statement ripping the company for hiring the lesbian talk show host.

"By jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon, JC Penney is attempting to gain a new target market and in the process will lose customers with traditional values that have been faithful to them over all these years... The majority of JC Penney shoppers will be offended and choose to no longer shop there."

Watch Ellen poke fun of the bandwagon comment here.
