Emmy Rossum didn’t mind stripping off on the set of her new TV show because her co-star is like her “brother”. The 23-year-old actress shares several steamy scenes with Justin Chatwin in upcoming Showtime series Shameless, which is due to premiere on US television in January. It is the first time Emmy has shot topless scenes, but she didn’t find the experience intimidating because she and her co-star are such good friends.

"It's new for me," Emmy told People magazine. "I was really comfortable with Justin. “He's kind of like my brother. Well, I shouldn't say he's like my brother. But we're that comfortable with each other, so it didn't feel weird."

Emmy plays the eldest daughter of a large family who is left to raise her younger siblings while her father drinks his wages away. The series sounds depressing, but Emmy insists it is actually upbeat and full of humor.

"It's really outrageous and funny, the way it's told and depicted," she said. "Nothing's taken too seriously. So even though it's a hard circumstance, the family has an incredible will to survive. And there's a lot of funny naked drunkenness."
