Actress Evangeline Lilly has opened up about motherhood and her 30-hour labor with her son, but admitted she still wants a whole basketball team of children.

The 32-year-old gave birth to her baby son in May 2011 and revealed on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno that she had a natural birth at home.

She said: "I actually skipped the hospital and had the baby at home. It wasn't because he came so quickly though, it was a planned thing.

"We decided to have the baby at home because we wanted it to be a natural birth. It turned out that it was 30 hours of natural."

Leno asked if she's been given any advice since becoming a mom.

She said: "Well, I don't know, everyone has things to offer but I think one of the strangest things I was told once was when I was in Hawaii - was from the moment they're born feed them poi, which is ground taro root.

"And I've always known that newborn babies drink breast milk but apparently in Hawaii they eat poi from the minute they're born."

Leno asked if she followed the advice and she said: "No we waited a couple of months, he's eating poi now, he's a big boy and poi like beefs up the Hawaiian men and makes them big and strong and tough."

The former Lost beauty was then asked if she is planning any more children any time soon.

She said: "Oh if I wasn't working right now, I'd be trying! I want a brood."

Asked how many, she laughed and said: "I don't know, how many people are on a basketball team?"
