Anna Loginova was a beautiful model. She used her looks and body and presented it on the covers of Russian magazines, often scantily clad. She fronted advertisements for high-profile brands in Russia, like the German carmaker BMW. CNN notes that behind the glossy images, Loginova had another profession: She was an experienced bodyguard, trained in martial arts, commanding high prices to protect Russia's wealthy elite.

Now she is gone. Anna, 29, died instantly Sunday when she smashed her head against the pavement while holding on to the door handle as a car jacker drove off in her Porsche, said Oleg Pavlov, the lead investigator with the southeast district branch of the City Prosecutor's Office.


The Moscow Times cites witnesses that say Loginova had just opened the door of her car when a man got out of a nearby car, sprinted toward the model and threw her out of the Porsche, Pavlov said. The man slammed the door shut and sped off, but Loginova held onto the door handle and was dragged along for several yards before her grip loosened and she slammed to the pavement, Pavlov said.

So who was this woman and how long will it be until Hollywood churns out a film on her life? "She was kind and sweet, not like a terminator, not like Sigourney Weaver in 'Aliens,'" said Igor Cherski, editor of Maxim magazine's Russian edition, which commissioned her last glamour shoot. "But I feel that she was not afraid of anything. There was no fear in her eyes," he added.


She said the same thing in the interview. "I do think that a girl should be a girl, not a Terminator," she said. She posed semi-nude for the Moscow men's magazine to make it clear that she was feminine as well as good with a gun. The UK Daily Mail has several of the images here.

Even more interesting, Loginova ran an entire agency for female bodyguards, some trained by the ex-KGB, to give discreet protection to Moscow's billionaires and their wives and mistresses. Think of it as Angelina Jolie in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. But it has now came to a sad end. Rest in peace Anna.
