Grey's Anatomy Catfight: Katherine Heigl vs. Kate Walsh
The men on Grey's Anatomy got to duke it out, so why not a good old fashioned catfight for the gals. The reportedtiff allegedly comes from a spinoff of the popular series is in the works that will feature actress Kate Walsh’s character, Dr. Addison Montgomery, and some other cast members reportedly are feeling blindsided and short-changed.
“The rest of the cast seemed instantly resentful of [Walsh],” a source told Star Magazine. “They each thought they’d be the one chosen to get their own show, and now they’re giving Kate the cold shoulder.”
That led to a report that Katherine Heigl was set to bail on her contract talks. It appears that Heigl, (the actress known as Katherine who before her big break on Grey's) is staying put. Us Weekly Magazine reports that Heigl is contractually obligated to remain on Grey's Anatomy despite a dispute over her salary, ABC Television says in a statement released Wednesday.
"Katherine is an integral part of Grey's Anatomy and its success. Fortunately, we have a long-term contract to ensure she'll be with the show for several years to come," says the statement. "In recognition of her tremendous talent and value to the show, we recently approached Katherine with an offer to raise her compensation significantly above the terms of her current contract. We were surprised to see this gesture reported negatively in the press, and want to reassure fans that she will continue as Izzie Stevens."
On Tuesday, Heigl dropped out of contract talks with the show over salary, a well-placed source told People Magazine at the time. "Katie is disappointed and hurt that (producer) Touchstone doesn't value her as much as her other costars, especially Sandra Oh and Isaiah Washington," the source told the weekly entertainment magazine.
Two things - the show would be wise to keep Walsh on and skip the spinoff. And Heigl's reported complaints seem a bit ridiculous. Her character could easily be replaced.
