James Howe, Director of Reality TV Shows Killed in Home Invasion in Los Angeles
James Howe, a director who worked on reality TV shows in Hollywood was shot dead when he opened his door in his home in Southern California for a man who claimed to be a salesman.
Howe worked on such reality TV projects as "America's Next Top Model" and "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila," but police say his job as a director had nothing to do with his violent end.
The attack was apparently random - and during the home invasion, Howe's wife was also shot, but survived the attack in their rented Glassell Park home in Los Angeles.
According to the LA Times - when Howe and his wife approached the front door to answer for the man who pretended to be the salesman, they saw only the one man and opened the front door.
But two others were hiding out of sight and appeared when the door was opened and they forced their way into the couples' home and the attack soon began.
The Times reveals:
"As an ensuing altercation quickly escalated, one of the men pulled out a handgun. A barrage of bullets flew just inside the doorway of the home the couple shared with their 6-year-old son, investigators said."
Police say it was a random act of violence, it appears the couple did not know their assailants.
"The victims were completely innocent. There is nothing to connect them with the assailants," said LAPD Deputy Chief Jose Perez.
Witnesses described the suspects as two black males and a black female.
Police are still investigating and looking for please, they ask anyone with information to call detectives at (323) 344-5731.
