Jan Michael Vincent Downfall (Video) Leg Amputation, Money Woes Taking Toll
Jan Michael Vincent has answered questions on his downfall, including the tragic story of an infection that forced him to have to his leg amputated and his money woes that have him with $70,000 of unpaid taxes.
The National Enquirer did a cover story on the actor and spoke with JMV and his wife Anna on his condition now.
Vincent is now 69 years old, but back in the 1980's he was the highest paid actor on TV for a time, earning $200,000 an episode as helicopter pilot Stringfellow Hawke in the top rated television series Airwolf.
The interview reveals how he suffered two serious car wrecks and one of them left him with a permanently raspy voice.

In 2012 when he contracted a leg infection as a result of complications from peripheral artery disease and his leg eventually had to be amputated.
An infection in my leg got steadily worse,” The former TV and movie star told The NATIONAL ENQUIRER. “I felt like I was beaten with a whip, one thing after another.”
His wife Anna added: “When the doctor said they had to amputate, I almost fainted, but I had to be brave for him.
“He was delirious and hallucinating. They were giving him powerful pain meds and propofol – the stuff that killed Michael Jackson. “They said the infection was so bad that he might not survive. “I remember one horrible night in the hospital. I had to help hold him down and keep the oxygen mask on him so he could breathe.”
Jan-Michael explained when he realized he had lost his leg to the infection.
“I know I was on life support and a ventilator. When I finally woke up it, (my leg) was gone.”
