Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston don't travel the same Hollywood circles. No matter, several weeks ago an item landed in the tabloid Life & Style that reported Jen, was "Jessica's secret phone therapist." But Jennifer says the report is just not true.

She denied the report in an interview with Extra to promote 'Rumor Has It.'

The Extra web site notes:

Jennifer also scoffed at a report claiming that she called Jessica Simpson with comfort and advice after her bust-up with Nick Lachey.

"I've never spoken to, not even tried to call, not that I wouldn't, Jessica Simpson," Aniston said. "I don't even know the sweet girl, but my thoughts are with her."

Cris Bergman cited the article at the time:

"Jess pours her heart out to Jen," the insider claims. And Jen is apparently happy to give the advice, even though the two beauties don't see each other often.

"Jen told Jess it doesn't matter that they aren't 'in-person fiends.' She says that makes it easier for her to be objective."

Despite Jennifer Aniston's denial - purportedly - Jessica wished to follow Jen's Hollywood divorce model.

That's a smart move.

Even though her personal life was a mess, Jen looked like the winner in Aniston vs. Pitt.
