Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey reportedly chatted before last weekend's Teen Choice Awards and agreed they would not comment if asked about their very public split that finally ended in divorce.

But a report from Star Magazine says rumored and denied Simpson beau and co-host Dane Cook was set to shoot some one-liners out about Jessica's ex.

The result, according to the article, Jessica nixed the Nick jokes.

"About three jokes were cut," a source told the magazine.

"Nick and Jess spoke on the phone earlier in the week and agree not to say anything about each other."

So - what jokes were cut?

Star claims this was one of the funnyman's lines that was axed by Jessicastarted out with"Dane noting Nick's album is called 'What's Left of Me':

Question: "Nick Lachey 'what's left of me?" Answer: "Half of Jessica's fortune."

Cue the laughtrack.

But Jessica may have wished she would have allowed Dane to go ahead and have some fun.

The source cited for the item claims Jessica was disappointed that Nick said it was 'awkward' being at the awards show with his ex-wife hosting.
