Jim Irsay Arrested in March for DUI, Suspended by NFL for 6 Games - Indianapolis Colts Owner
Jim Isray was arrested in March 2014 for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) and has entered a plea deal and now will face punishment from the National Football League, too.
CNN reports that Irsay pleaded guilty Tuesday to one misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
His punishment was fairly light, he gets no jail time at, Isray only gets a one year probation period he must serve and was told to pay $368.50 in court costs.
The NFL hit him harder than the state courts - the league suspended Irsay for the Colts' first six regular-season games and hit him with a huge fine of $500K, the maximum allowed under NFL rules.
CNN says that the NFL's imposed suspension means:
"Irsay will not be allowed at the Colts' facility, cannot attend practices or games and cannot represent the team at league meetings or league committee meetings or at any other team or league event. He is also barred from media interviews and can't engage in social media regarding matters about the NFL or the Colts."
After the two punishments were handed down, Irsay said in a statement: "I acknowledge the mistake I made last March and stand responsible for the consequences of that mistake, for which I sincerely apologize to our community and to Colts fans everywhere,"
