Captain America casting news - Office star John Krasinski is the latest actor attached to the role. The National Post notes that the role of Steve Rogers, and how he becomes a WW2 super soldier may perfectly fit Krasinski, because of his "old-timey look".

Other names have been dropped for the role as well. According to WENN, Gossip Girl hunk Chace Crawford has also been linked to the role along with Brothers star Patrick Flueger, Cloverfield's Mike Vogel, Smallville actor Michael Cassidy, Friday Night Lights star Scott Porter and others in the testing stage for the upcoming action film.


The Post notes, "Of course, it's very possible that Marvel may not opt for any of the above, as was the case when it tested a series of actors for their film Thor, which is shooting now with newcomer, Chris Hemsworth."

Hopefuls will try to win over casting directors within the next two weeks, when they will meet in Manhattan Beach, California. The First Avenger: Captain America is expected to be released in July 2011.
