Kobe Bryant Holds Off Divorce - But Will LA Lakers Amnesty Kobe and Cut Him?
Kobe Bryant was able to hold off his impending divorce this season, the star guard of the Los Angeles Lakers has reconciled with his wife Vanessa Bryant, saving his marriage and a mountain of personal cash he would have lost in the split.
But will this be his last season as the Lakers signature star?
Will he and the LA Lakers divorce at the end of this season?
Probably not, but it has been suggested by one NBA owner.
According to ESPN, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban made an appearance on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM “Ben and Skin Show” and said:
“If you look at their payroll, even if Dwight comes back, you’ve got to ask the question: Should they amnesty Kobe?”
“So I’m just saying that hypothetically. When I say amnesty Kobe, I don’t think they’d do it, but they’ve got some choices to make. Now, they’re in a big market, but they’re still limited. The Knicks, the same thing. Boston, same thing.”
Bryant will make more than $30 million next year, joining Michael Jordan as the only players in NBA history to reach that plateau and the amnesty clause created in the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) allows teams to relieve themselves of burdensome contracts like Kobe now has without penalty.
Would the Lakers cut Kobe?
