Heartthrob actor and rumored Kristen Stewart boyfriend Rob Pattinson has revealed he wanted to give up acting after his audition for Twilight as he thought it had gone badly. As fans eagerly await New Moon (the movie opens later this month) Pattinson, 23, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the movie saga, which is based on the books by author Stephenie Meyer made the revelation of his doubts.

The role has catapulted him to worldwide fame and made him the idol of millions of fans around the globe.

Pattinson said that he went into his audition for Twilight: "A little more brazen than I would have been in a normal audition." He then had to act out a kissing scene with co-star Kristen Stewart on director Catherine Hardwicke's bed. He said: "I was still in the mode thinking, I've got to make this really, really serious."


"This is not just a sexy thing... I was slamming my head against the wall and kind of going nuts. "I remember calling my parents[afterward and saying: 'That's it. I'm not doing this anymore'. And then hearing: 'OK, fine'. "Which was not the answer I wanted to hear at all."

Pattinson has previously said that the attention from fans can sometimes get so much that he stays inside his hotel room and he admitted that sometimes he isn't sure if he is 'cut out' to do a movie franchise. He told Vanity Fair: "I guess I'm not the type of guy cut out to do a franchise. I'm not much of a crowd person."
