Lady Gaga Banned from Performing in Indonesia, Fights with Perez Hilton - Did Applause Bomb?
Lady Gaga was banned from performing in Indonesia earlier this year, is now in a fight with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton and her latest single 'Applause' was just released, but is not currently number one.
The rough summer of 2013 for Lady Gaga continues, let's start with her frightening situation in Indonesia.
Police wouldn't give hr a permit to perform and eventually Gaga canceled her gig in Indonesia after receiving death threats.
The US singer was set to perform in Jakarta as part of the Asian leg of her 'Born This Way Ball' tour but has now axed the show because hardline extremists complained her sexy clothes and dance routines would corrupt young people.
Islamic Defenders Front called Gaga a "messenger of the devil" and vowed to turn out at the airport by the thousands if she tried to step off the plane.
Minola Sebayang, a lawyer for concert promoters Big Daddy, said: "It's unfortunate. But with threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga's side is calling it off. This is not only about Lady Gaga's security, but extends to those who will be watching her."
Gaga said she was "devastated" by the decision to pull the plug on the show.
She tweeted: "There is nothing Holy about hatred. We had to cancel the concert in Indonesia. I'm so very sorry to the fans & just as devastated as you if not more.(sic)"
Salim Alatas, of Islamic Defenders Front, said: "This is a victory for Indonesian Muslims. Thanks to God for protecting us from a kind of devil."
However, fans - who have been offered a refund - are not happy and think she has been treated very harshly.
Johnny Purba, 25, said: "This only shows to the world how weak security forces are in this country, how police are afraid of a bunch of hard-liners. Gaga's two-hour show will not hurt Indonesian Muslims. For God's sake, she is not a terrorist."
Fighting with Perez…
Lady Gaga has blasted her former friend Perez Hilton - accusing him of "stalking" her.
The 27-year-old singer took to Twitter to post an angry rant about the "sick" blogger after one of her fans informed her he was being shown around an apartment inside her New York building, and she also claimed he has been "harassing" her.
She wrote: "STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!
"DO I NEED TO BE SHOT IT IN THE HEAD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT HIM AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT HARASSES ME HAS GONE TOO FAR? I'M A HUMAN BEING. (sic)"
However, Perez - who has a six-month-old son Mario Armando Lavandeira III - hit back at the 'Born This Way' hitmaker by posting a 352-word blog post entitled 'A Statement On LadyGaGa's Lies (sic)', in which he denied stalking her and insisted he wasn't aware she lived in the same apartment block.
He wrote: "I learned only after the fact that Lady GaGa lives in one of the buildings we looked at, and she was across the country in Los Angeles when I viewed that building.
"After a day of innocent house-hunting, I am devastated and my heart hurts that my former very good friend, a person I used to call my "wifey" and traveled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter.
"While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a "stalker".
"Any allegation that I am stalking her, based on a day of house hunting with my baby boy and my mother, is utterly false, defamatory and now appears to be putting me and my family in danger. (sic)"
Shortly before the feud erupted, Gaga took to Twitter to reveal Perez had poked fun at her when she was left wheelchair-bound after suffering a labral tear on her right hip earlier this year.
She wrote: "Still have the text Perez sent me of me in a wheelchair w the words KARMA written across + Madonna pointing a gun at me. Day of my accident (sic)"
Did Applause Bomb?
Katy Perry is on course to outsell Lady Gaga in their chart battle.
The 28-year-old pop star's new single 'Roar' - which is the first track lifted from her upcoming album 'Prism' - is expected to sell double the amount of Gaga's new single 'Applause' in the United States after they were both released on the same day last week.
According to Billboard, Katy will shift between 525,000 and 550,000 copies of her comeback song, marking her highest first week sales on the US singles chart, while Gaga is set to sell 200,000 to 225,000 copies of her song.
Both Katy and Gaga will use their new singles to launch their third studio albums. Katy's 'Prism' is set for release in October, while the 'Bad Romance' hitmaker will release 'ARTPOP' in November.
Gaga's modest first week sales are a far cry from the 448,000 downloads she sold in just three days in 2011 when she released 'Born This Way', the first single from her second album of the same name.
The 27-year-old star rush-released 'Applause' in the US last Monday after a snippet of the track leaked online.
In the UK, the song debuted at number five on the singles chart.
