This is why so many people mocked the New York Times when they decided to really unleash their celebrity coverage on their readers and across the World Wide Web. The Old Gray Lady has dubbed MTV's "The Hills" star Heidi Montag a "feminist hero." Wait - what? Who knew that breast implants and plastic surgery had hit the feminist movement.

The rival of Lauren Conrad from the show was praised by Ginia Bellafante of the paper and dubbed with her hero status because she refused to elope with her boyfriend or fiancée or whatever he is this season, Spencer Pratt. The critic then slams Conrad for pining away for Brody Jenner. Oh the humanity! It's reality TV.


Conrad, who told the reporters last week, "I'm sure a lot of people don't take me seriously" is slammed in the article by the Times television critic Bellafante for her neediness and Heidi is praised for her independence. If it wasn't the New York Times I would think that the whole review was satire.

Here's a tip to the paper. This is a reality TV show of what many believe are really bad self-indulgent actresses. If any of these women are looked up to by young girls as feminist icons it is all over for feminism.
