Clips from the upcoming Melrose Place pilot have revealed that "someone murdered Sydney", according to a report. Entertainment Weekly reported it exclusively learned that a dead body found floating face-down in Melrose's trademark pool in the opening minutes is that of Laura Leighton's character.

"I'm told her death will set in motion a season-long murder mystery that finds nearly all of the show's principal characters - particularly Syd's ex, Michael [Thomas Calabro] - a possible suspect," an Entertainment Weekly reporter said.


Melrose Place 2009 is a continuation of the original show from the early 90's with a large ensemble cast that featured such stars as Courtney Thorne-Smith, Heather Locklear, Marcia Cross and Jack Wagner.

The show features a group of pretty young adults living in a West Hollywood apartment complex centered around the fateful pool. The show will premiere on The CW in the Fall 2009 season.
