Mischa Barton has been admitted to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center psych ward. Barton has reportedly been kept in hospital under a "psychiatric hold", according to reports. Mischa, 23, was admitted to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where it is claimed, by Access Hollywood, that she was placed under the involuntary hold.

Jon Boon reported earlier that Los Angeles police were called to assist Mischa with a “medical issue” on Tuesday afternoon. Access Hollywood reported then that police had to respond to a non-911 call about 3pm at the O.C. star's West Hollywood apartment. A patrol car was the first on the scene, and police officers reportedly had to escort the 23-year-old actress from her home to an unknown location.


A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department has said it is "currently assisting" Barton and no one else is believed to have been involved in the incident. As well as being charged for driving while under the influence of alcohol, she was also cited for possessing marijuana. In April 2008, Barton was sentenced by an LA court judge to 36 months’ probation, told to attend alcohol education classes and had to pay a hefty fine.

Her rep declined to comment on the matter but said to PEOPLE: "Mischa has been hospitalized per the recommendation of her doctor and is resting in the hospital." It is claimed Mischa called police on July 15 saying she has a medical problem. April Harding, an LAPD officer, said: "We assisted her with a medical issue and removed her from her home."
