Monica Lewinsky Scandal with Hillary Rodham Clinton's Husband Bill - Vanity Fair Article Explanation
Monica Lewinsky is discussing her 1998 sexual affair and scandal with President Bill Clinton with Vanity Fair as Bill's wife Hillary Rodham Clinton prepares to run for president in 2016.
Hillary Rodham Clinton once dubbed Monica a 'narcissistic loony toon,' and this article might reinforce the former First Lady's beliefs.
Why is the woman famous for saying she brought her 'presidential kneepads' to the White House ready to serve the president back in the news and telling her story?
Many will see a conspiracy and blame the Clintons or Republicans for Monica's re-emergence, but she says it was a reaction by her mom to Tyler Clementi, the 18-year-old Rutgers freshman who was secretly streamed via Webcam kissing another man.
Lewinsky says that after the Clementi tragedy, where he took his own life, she said, “my own suffering took on a different meaning. Perhaps by sharing my story, I reasoned, I might be able to help others in their darkest moments of humiliation."
So, Monica is sharing.
Here are a few of the bullet points from the story:
Monica says her affair with Clinton was one between two consenting adults.
"Sure, my boss took advantage of me, but I will always remain firm on this point: it was a consensual relationship. Any ‘abuse’ came in the aftermath, when I was made a scapegoat in order to protect his powerful position. . . . The Clinton administration, the special prosecutor’s minions, the political operatives on both sides of the aisle, and the media were able to brand me. And that brand stuck, in part because it was imbued with power."
Monica adds she is full of regret.
“I, myself, deeply regret what happened between me and President Clinton. Let me say it again: I. Myself. Deeply. Regret. What. Happened.”
And even though Monica is the one who saved the semen stained blue dress that special prosecutor Kenneth Starr was able to pull the DNA from that proved Clinton and Lewisnky were intimate, she says it's time to get rid of it.
"It’s time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress."
There is more here in Vanity Fair, Monica looks great in the photo, this time she wears a white dress and a smile while lying on a couch.
