In July, one of the most expensive homes in the US sold and it was to a celebrity.

The 56,500 sq ft Spelling Manor fetched $85 million and was purchased by a socialite, 22-year-old Petra Ecclestone, heir to the Formula 1 racing fortune.

The French chateau-style property in Los Angeles was owned by Candy Spelling, wife of the late Aaron Spelling, the producer of hit TV shows including Charlie's Angels, Dynasty, The Love Boat and Fantasy Island.

Ecclestone will be moving into the mansion with her fiancé, businessman James Stunt, and their dogs.

Ecclestone paid cash for the home.

The house boasts 14 bedrooms, 27 bathrooms, a projection room, bar, oak-panelled library, office, billiards room, game room, two-lane bowling alley, wine cellar, tasting room, china room, gift-wrapping room, gym, barbershop, beauty salon and rooftop garden.

Harry Potter author JK Rowling was thanked by Warner Bros for the huge success of Harry Potter with the gift of a 40-diamond bracelet.

The 45-year-old British author was given the white-gold antique bracelet by Warner Bros CEO Barry Meyer at the London premiere after-party of the final movie adaptation in the series Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part Two.

Sources close to TMZ say the author was worried about wearing the expensive bracelet, which is said to be worth millions of pounds, and had security guards at the bash to make sure it stayed safe.

A Fleet of Cars...

It might not be a purchase, but reality star Kim Kardashian is reportedly hiring an entire fleet of expensive cars to ferry her guests to her wedding.

The 30-year-old is currently planning her wedding to Kris Humphries after he recently popped the question.

TMZ claim Kardashian will have a fleet of cars including Rolls Royce Phantoms and Maybachs that will bring her guests to her wedding.

She has reportedly worked out a deal with Platinum Motorsports in LA for them to provide enough cars to carry the whole of the Kardashian and Humphries' families to the wedding venue.

But the star reportedly only wants white vehicles to match the rest of the wedding and each car will come with a chauffeur.
