NASCAR's Carl Edwards (Video) Crashes and Feuds - What Fans Want?
Mar 11, 2010
NASCAR's Carl Edwards (pictured) is at the center of attention for the sport this week after the spectacular crash for his intentional accident-causing bump on Brad Keselowski last weekend in Atlanta. A USA Today article notes this is the type of action NASCAR seemed to indicate that it wanted as some fans are leaving the sport, and just four races into the season following the frightening accident at Atlanta, interest is up. At least for a week.

That means Carl Edwards gets a pass on the forced crash and only faces some sort of 'probationary period' for his actions. He wasn't really punished, instead a "three-race probationary period will be enforced on Edwards, which basically means extra sets of eyes on his vehicle to make sure he doesn't act in a similar fashion in the upcoming races," reports Gather.

They have the crash video here if you need another look. NASCAR is in a tough spot, as despite the attention to the sport for this week, many are wondering why the governing body would look the other way at the risk of killing drivers and fans from these spectacular crashes.
Jenna Fryer, AP Auto Racing Writer has a good feature here. Her opinion, "The boys sure backed NASCAR into a corner on this one." NASCAR said they wanted a bit more "boys, have at it" attitude, she writes. Now that they have it - and the attention that goes with it - what do they do?
