The Voice opens with a three night week one.

NBC's reality TV singing competition The Voice 2012 kicked off Monday with the first night of a three-night premiere, recap and spoilers below.

It's the third season of "The Voice" for NBC and the show may have Simon Cowell and the X factor a bit nervous as it extends to Wednesday for week one.

The show will have some changes to its format for season three, including the option for judges Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green and Blake Shelton to "steal" discarded players from each other.

The show begins on Monday night and first up is 35-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter Terry McDermott.

Terry sings classic rock song "Baba O'Riley" from The Who.

"I think you are the real thing," Cee Lo remarked to the Scottish rocker.

"You're a real rock 'n roll singer, man," Adam Levine proclaimed.

But Blake Shelton charmed the rocker.

He says he will let Terry talk (he has a thick Scottish accent).

The eager contestant had a tough choice to make, but he ultimately went with Shelton.

Next up De'Borah, 25.

She is a gospel singer who says she has fallen out of favor with her church.

"The church did not like how I look and it became more important than my voice," De'Borah explained, but she made sure to express that her parents didn't share the church's view, and they embraced her style.

She sings a a cover of Train's "Hey, Soul Sister."

Cee Lo and Christina both want the sinner, but she takes Christina.

18-year-old country singer Gracia Harrison is up next.

She showed off her yodeling skills in her delivery of the country classic, 'I Want to Be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart.'

Adam: "By far you are the best country singer we've had on this show."

Blake: "Country radio today is full of artists today who can't do what you just did."

She chooses Blake, Adam is unhappy.

Up next on the show, Garrett Gardner, 16 - he didn't make the cut.

The next contestant, 20-year-old Devyn DeLoera chose to sing ‘Ain’t No Other Man’ by Christina Aguilera.

Not surprisingly, she chose Aguilera and Christina added a second performer to her team.

Up next is 22-year-old Bryan Keith who sings a rendition of Bruno Mars', "It Will Rain."

All the judges want him - he chooses Adam, though.

21-year old Daniel Rosa, 21 is back after not making the cut on season 2 of "The Voice."

He sings Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know."

CeeLo and Blake turn - he chooses CeeLo.

22-year old Anita Antoinette does not make the cut. Twice.

The next contestant is far better, Joe Kirkland, 24 nails the All-American Rejects' "Give You Hell."

Adam and Blake both want him - he chooses Adam.

Jessica Sharpe doesn't make the cut.

18-year-old Trevin Hunte does though, singing Beyonce's "Listen" and drawing interest from Christina and Blake and CeeLo.

Trevin chooses CeeLo.
