Check out the full list of Tony Award nominees below for 2014 - Neil Patrick Harris has been nominated for his first Tony Award.

The 'How I Met Your Mother' actor - who has hosted the ceremony four times - has just earned his first nod for best actor in a musical for his performance in his big Broadway comeback, 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch', which marks the first time he has taken to the stage in a decade.

Chris O'Dowd also received his debut nomination in the category of best actor in a play for 'Of Mice and Men', as did Bryan Cranston for 'All the Way'. The pair will face off against Samuel Barnett ('Twelfth Night'), Mark Rylance ('Richard III') and Tony Shalhoub ('Act One').

Meanwhile, Neil was joined in his own category by Ramin Karimloo ('Les Misérables'), Andy Karl ('Rocky') and Jefferson Mays and Bryce Pinkham (both for 'A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder').

Denzel Washington, Daniel Radcliffe and Michelle Williams were some of the big names snubbed during the nominations announcement, which took place this morning (29.04.14).

'Glee' star Jonathan Groff and Elementary's Lucy Liu read out the shortlist on CBS, with host Hugh Jackman joining them on stage.

Musical 'A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder' made the biggest impact overall with 10 nominations, followed by 'Hedwig' with eight.

Idina Menzel is the hot favourite for scooping the best actress in a musical gong thank to her role in 'If/Then', while Woody Allen was nominated for best book of a musical with his Zach Braff-starring 'Bullets Over Broadway'.
