NFL Coaching Rumors 2013 - Scott Pioli Fired if Andy Reid Hired as Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach?
The NFL coaching rumors are in high gear with seven openings in the National Football League and a bunch of coaching candidates posturing for position for each head coaching job.
In Kansas City, the Chiefs are courting former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid and if he is hired, current Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli may be fired, one report suggests.
Reid was only just fired himself on what is called "Black Monday" in the NFL, but is in high demand as the Arizona Cardinals are also very interested in the coach.
He stopped in Kansas City on Wednesday on his way to see the Cardinals, but may have landed the job to run the Chiefs.
Where does that leave Scott Pioli?
Mike Florio writes on NFLTalk.Com:
"As momentum builds toward the Chiefs possibly hiring former Eagles coach Andy Reid (wake me up when it’s a 95-percent certainty), the question becomes whether the Chiefs would then keep G.M. Scott Pioli. The easy answer is no. Reid and Pioli come from two different coaching trees."
Before Chiefs fans warm to Reid because his hire could mean Pioli would move on, Florio adds:
"The unknown in this is whether and to what extent Reid and Pioli have fashioned a relationship that could be transformed into a partnership. And a partnership it would be; Chiefs owner Clark Hunt recently told NFL Network that the next coach will report directly to the owner."
Is Andy Reid a good fit in Kansas City?
