It's football season! Predictions and lines for week one of the NFL season are below.

Week one of the NFL season for 2012 kicks off tonight with the Dallas Cowboys traveling to a rainy New York to face the Giants.

The Giants are the defending Super Bowl champions and off a 9-7 season where they barely made the playoffs, but got red-hot at just the right time last year.

After losing four in a row and five of six, the Giants turned it around and won their last two games of the regular season and then marched through the NFC playoffs before defeating the New England Patriots in another memorable Super Bowl win.

How will this season turn out?

We should know in about 17 weeks, as the Giants start the season tonight at home against the rival Cowboys and are a 3 1/2 point favorite.

By the numbers, Giants coach Tom Coughlin is 10-6 in openers in his career and the Cowboys have lost five of six to the Giants, and the Giants make it six of seven.

My prediction for tonight's game, a high scoring win for the Giants, 34-27.

That straight up win would cover the spread and the number should go over the total of 45 points.
