Is Nicki Minaj the next American idol judge?

According to Us Weekly, an insider has revealed that the singer will sit alongside new judge Mariah Carey for the upcoming season of the show.

"I'm not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it," one insider reveals.

"A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening."

A second source says the "Super Bass" rapper, 29, is "100% confirmed to judge American Idol."

Will you watch with Mariah and Nicki as judges or will the show 'jump the shark' with this pairing?

Us Weekly has more and notes the roster of judges:

"Previous American Idol judges include Simon Cowell, 52, Paula Abdul, 50, Jennifer Lopez, 43, Steven Tyler, 64, Kara DioGuardi, 41, and Ellen DeGeneres, 54. Host Ryan Seacrest, 37, is slated to return for Season 12, premiering this winter."

More musical notes…

The Killers closed V Festival with a greatest hits set last night.

The US rockers stunned the crowd at the spectacle in Chelmsford, Essex, yesterday by performing hits from their four studio albums and signed off with an energetic performance of 2006 single 'When You Were Young' after treating fans to album track 'Jenny Was a Friend of Mine'.

Ahead of their encore, The Killers got the crowd singing along to their popular hit 'Mr Brightside' after opening their set with 2004 debut single 'Somebody Told Me'.

The Stone Roses closed the V Festival at Weston Park in Staffordshire yesterday one day after wowing revellers on the Virgin Media Stage at the Essex venue.

Frontman Ian Brown got the crowd on their feet as the reformed Manchester group started their set with 1991 single 'I Wanna Be Adored' before launching into a string of hits including 'Waterfall', 'She Bangs the Drums' and an epic 10-minute version of 'Fools Gold'.

Noel Gallagher packed out his set with material from his self-titled Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds debut solo album as well as a number of Oasis classics including 'Supersonic', which he dedicated to double British Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah.

Other acts performing on the Virgin Media Stage over the weekend included Sir Tom Jones, Tinie Tempah, Madness, Snow Patrol and Tulisa, who performed an N-Dubz medley and made a jibe about her ex-boyfriend Justin Edwards – who released X-rated footage of the pair onto the internet earlier this year – before singing David Guetta's 'Titanium'.

She told the crowd: "I'm not going to do the whole ex-boyfriend thing again.

"I just want to dedicate this to anyone who tried to get you down in life. Just give them the middle finger and keep going."

Tulisa's N-Dubz bandmate and cousin Dappy Contostavlos had to pull out of his planned V Festival performance while Nicki Minaj also had to cancel her headline slot on the 4Music Stage due to strained vocal chords.
