Paris Hilton is really sorry.

Paris Hilton was caught on tape calling gay men ''disgusting'' and the tape was released this week.

The socialite was recorded in a cab in Manhattan, New York City, on September 7 making derogatory marks during a conversation with a homosexual friend and also says she would be ''afraid'' to be gay in case she ''died of AIDS''.

In the audio, which has been posted on RadarOnline.com, Paris' friend said: ''Say I log into Grindr [a gay hook-up app], someone that's on Grindr can be in that building and it tells you all the locations of where they are and you can be like, 'Yo, you wanna f**k?' and he might be on like, the sixth floor.''

Paris replies: ''Ewww. Eww. To get f***ed? Gay guys are the horniest people in the world.

''They're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS. I would be so scared if I was a gay guy, you might like, die of AIDS.''

After the report, Paris apologizes…

Hilton has said she is sorry "from the bottom" of her heart of insulting gay people.

The 31-year-old socialite has now apologized for her words and insists they do not represent her true feelings towards the homosexual community.

In a statement on the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) website, she said: "I am so sorry and so upset that I caused pain to my gay friends, fans and their families with the comments heard this morning. I was having this private conversation with a friend of mine who is gay and our conversation was in no way towards the entire gay community.

"It is the last thing that I would ever want to do and I cannot put into words how much I wish I could take back every word."

She also proclaimed gay people to be among "the most inspiring" individuals she knows because many have to overcome bullying.

Paris added: "Gay people are the strongest and most inspiring people I know. It is so wrong when people bully or put down others for being gay.

"No one should have to go through that. Again, I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart and I feel absolutely horrible."

''Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community and would never purposefully make any negative statements about anyone's sexual orientation.''
