RCA has tried to clear up the confusion over the missing release date for the former American Idol runner up Clay Aiken's latest effort that vanished sometime between last weekend and Wednesday.

RCA Says: Don't Fret Clay Fans

The mix-up caused some to question whether RCA was hesitating due to the scandal surrounding Aiken's sexuality.

Our guess was that RCA has only removed the release as an oversight.

In a vague 45 word explanation quite possibly brought on by an avalanche of mail from Clay Aiken enthusiasts - RCA now has this quasi-clarification on its web site:

Attention Clay Aiken Fans, a non-confirmed target release date for Clay Aiken's upcoming LP was accidentally posted on this site over the weekend. Clay is currently in a studio working hard on his new album.

Title and release date are TBD. Sorry for the confusion!

Best Week Ever isn't buying it. I'm not buying it for a minute. I mean, what does "TBD" mean? And oh, he's "working hard" huh? Wink, wink. And what about that code word "confusion"? What else are people confused about?

Don't be fooled. Clay Aiken loves rollercoasters, and it scares RCA.

RCA will have a hit on its hands no matter what is divulged about Clay Aiken's personal life. For them to bail would be bad business.

They will surely stay with their star.
