Republican Party, Greta Van Susteren and Lindsay Lohan - Who Ruined the White House Correspondents Dinner?
Was it the Republican Party, Fox News' Greta Van Sustren or troubled Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan who ruined the White House correspondents dinner for NBC anchor Tom Brokaw?
Shockingly, it's not the Republican Party in fact, Brokaw lightly criticized President Barack Obama for his ineffective leadership and trying to demonize the Republican Party recently before unloading on his peers over their annual over-the-top bash dubbed the White House correspondents dinner that now includes Hollywood celebrities and even reality TV stars.
The NBC's anchor's latest criticism about the White House correspondents' dinner was over Lindsay Lohan and Brokaw not being able to understand why Lindsay was ever allowed to attend an event to celebrate the DC press.
It's not like Lindsay crashed the party (though she has been accused of that a few times in Hollywood and New York) Lohan was invited by Fox News talking head Greta Van Susteren.
So it is likely safe to say those to ladies were the tipping point for Brokaw as he says the event has devolved into ridiculous pomp and including Lindsay Lohan, an actress with a long rap sheet and several trips to rehab for drug problems was the last straw.
"Somewhere along the line, it began to freewheel out of control," Brokaw told Politico about the celeb-filled bash supposedly designed for the press who cover US politicians, "and the breaking point for me was Lindsay Lohan.”
More problems for LiLo…
Lindsay has lost an endorsement deal due to her recent legal troubles.
The 'Canyons' actress landed a lucrative contract with Odaingerous clothing company but when Lindsay was sentenced to 90 days in rehab after pleading no contest to charges for lying to police about driving during a car crash last June, the company rescinded their offer.
Creative Director and CEO of Odaingerous Odain Watson told RadarOnline: “In light of the recent conviction of actress Lindsay Lohan, clothing and lifestyle brand, Odaingerous is officially withdrawing its offer for an endorsement agreement of actress Lindsay Lohan as the face of the brand.
“We wish her the best on her recovery and future pursuits.
“We held off on our upcoming promotional campaign due to the uncertainly of Ms. Lohan.
“But have decided to move forward and will soon announce the name of the Odaingerous face and continue the world of living Odaingerously.”
As part of her plea deal, Lindsay, 26, is required to check into a residential treatment facility for 90 days by May 2 and despite claims she would stay at the Seafield Center in Westhampton Beach, New York, her lawyer Mark Heller insists they haven't made a final decision yet.
He said: "Lindsay is expected to sit with me this week ... and then a final approval has to be rendered by the court."
