Selma Hayek Disguises Vegetables in Food

Salma Hayek has admitted she gets her four-year-old daughter to eat her vegetables by disguising them in her food.

The 45-year-old Puss In Boots star said subterfuge is the best way to get little Valentina to eat her five a day.

“I camouflage them. They love pasta [so] I put [them] in tomato sauce,” she said during an appearance on the Rachael Ray Show.

“You know what you can hide really well? Aubergine [eggplant], roast carrots, roast bell peppers [and] you can put a little bit of greens if you put enough of the other stuff. There’s got to be no clue that you lied because then she’ll find it, like, ‘Aha!’. You have to really puree [the vegetables]. It’s the way to do it.”

And despite her hectic schedule and successful career, Hayek said she insists on setting aside time for just her and her little girl.

“We have our dates that it’s just her and I. We have to have them,” she said. “They’re always at night, you know, we go to the movies or to dinner just her and I.”
