Sammy Sosa Skin (Before & After Photos); Lighter Tone Draws Questions
By Josh Hart
Nov 9, 2009
What's with Sammy Sosa and his skin tone? The one-time Major League slugger is accused of doing a "Michael Jackson" like skin change from dark to light. Criticism immediately followed and now the slugger is saying the photo that has been circulating shows a "more pronounced" change and that his skin is not that white. A headline from the Chicago Tribune has this, "Sammy Sosa says skin rejuvenation process reason his skin appears lighter". Wait - what?

Celebrity blogger Michael K finds this one too juicy to pass on and muses, "One of Sammy Sosa's friends has come out to defend him after a picture of him looking like he's on step 3 of "Michael Jackson's Guide to Beauty" started making people talking."

He has the before and after pictures of Sammy side-by-side here (the one above is taken at the Jose Canseco steroid hearings from 2005) and notes, "Rebecca Polihronis, a former Cubs employee who talks to Sosa all the time, told the Chicago Sun-Times that he's in the process of going through a laser treatment to his skin after spending years playing in the sun."
He is unimpressed, "REJUVENATION PROCESS?! Unless Sosa was born a baked potato, this "rejuvenation process" is not working. Get a refund. Seriously, I just want to throw a stick of butter and a tub of sour cream on him (hold the chives)." Oh the humanity!
The Tribune story notes, "Among the possible side effects for some laser skin rejuvenation methods include discoloration of the skin. The treated area may become lighter or darker in appearance.
