Sarah Palin Pregnancy: Dragging Bristol Palin Into Desperate Housewives Scandal

Sep 1, 2008

Democrats must be concerned about Sarah Palin. In what seems like something that goes beyond the usual mean-spirited politics they have attacked Sarah Palin and her daughter Bristol Palin and that has led them to use "Desperate Housewives" storyline in what they have dubbed a Sarah Palin pregnancy scandal where they smear the Republican vice presidential nominee by trying to say that Bristol Palin was pregnant with Trig, the four month old baby with Down's Syndrome.

The smear comes from a left wing blog called Daily Kos and they offer up as proof some photos of Sarah Palin and Bristol Palin. The website has the dates on the photos wrong, most of the story wrong, and has absolutely nothing even remotely close to facts included in the initial report. It is now being taken apart all over as other new media types rip into the blog for what appears to be nothing more than a smear campaign dreamed up by someone that sits around watching "Desperate Housewives" reruns all day long.

For those not familiar with the nighttime soap opera that runs on ABC, a character played by Marcia Cross is named Bree Van de Kamp on the show and she pretends to be pregnant once she finds out that her daughter (Danielle) is pregnant. It's not even clever soap opera writing, but it did make for an entertaining show, as Marcia Cross was quite humorous as she played out the fake pregnancy. Is that where the pregnancy scandal was formed?

Town Hall Blog has an interesting write up here of the entire ugly smear where they debunk the story quite well with facts about the dates of the photos. While everyone expects politics to be an ugly business, this seems more than a bit over the top by dragging her daughter Bristol Palin into the mix.
