Prosecutors allege Kendra Beebe was stabbed with a butcher knife in her own back yard and throughout her home in 2008 during a dispute. A man was stabbed a well in the alleged attack and the state blames Shelley Malil, an actor that was in "The 40-Year Old Virgin, a sex-comedy starring Steve Carrel.

The trial is underway in Los Angeles and authorities allege Kendra Beebe was the ex-girlfriend of the actor and was allegedly stabbed by Malil on August 10, 2008.


They say he "was either a jealous ex-boyfriend who went to his ex-girlfriend's house looking for revenge," or a violent "lovelorn suitor" that snapped when he saw her with another man sipping wine and relaxing in her yard at her home, according to a report from CBS News.

Prosecutors say "Malil went over to the Beebe's house that day driven by jealousy and got even more angry when he found her in the backyard drinking wine with another man."

Kendra Beebe was seriously injured, but survived. In court this week, Shelley Malil claimed innocence, saying he was defending himself against his ex-girlfriend's new lover.

The actor claims the new boyfriend attacked him with a garden hoe and he had to defend himself with a butcher knife.
