Sheryl Crow was not a fan of American idol before the entire nude photos of Antonella Barba scandalized the contest with their online splash. And certainly the soulful singer isn't one now as she detests the competition as she feels it is too commercial. There is no question that she won't be making an appearance as a judge on the idol anytime soon. According to an item from MSNBC's Jeannette Walls, Sheryl just flat out isn’t an idol fan. "Let’s face it, it undermines art in every way and promotes commercialism," the 'All I Wanna Do' singer told Ladies Home Journal. "I am sad people love it so."

While the show certainly is designed to promote a commercial success that seems a bit harsh from a person that makes their living off commercial music and is featured in television ads promoting hair products while using her tour as a backdrop and has her songs running as jingles on car commercials.

She is also urging cancer sufferers to stop reading tabloids and gossip magazines - because the negativity contained inside hampers recovery. According to a report from Star Pulse, Sheryl, who battled breast cancer a year ago, found her own circumstances changed when she stopped picking up the supermarket magazines, in which she regularly features.

She tells the upcoming issue of Ladies Home Journal, "Don't waste time reading those trashy celebrity magazines. Every third person has one of those magazines open on planes. Feed your body good things, but also feed your mind. It sets a strange precedent for us to laugh at people so we can supposedly feel better about ourselves. It's strangely exhilarating, like taking a hit of a crack pipe."
